Staff Spotlight – Jade Burgess

In this edition of our Staff Spotlight series, we speak to our senior associate Jade Burgess.

What is your specialism?

Since joining Lexington more than two years ago, I have worked on company disposals, growth capital transactions and management buyouts, which gave me a broad range of experience across the mergers and acquisitions spectrum.

Some of the most recent transactions I have been involved in include Cansford Laboratories, Recovery Care and Wales Environmental. I particularly enjoy working on company disposals and seeing businesses thrive as part of a wider group.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My core responsibility is to support the senior team in all aspects of a transaction. This includes using databases to undertake buyer and valuation research, lead on completion of client deliverables and approach buyers and/or funders with potential acquisition opportunities.

I also help train and guide new associates joining the team – something I particularly enjoy as I joined Lexington straight from university. It’s a pleasure to be able to use my own experience to support new graduates.

What do you enjoy most about working at Lexington?

There are many things I enjoy about my job at Lexington – I feel lucky to be a part of a team that is highly experienced, talented and sociable. I also love meeting new people and I really enjoy attending work events to meet like-minded individuals within the industry.

When are you due to be a qualified accountant?

I am hoping to be fully ACCA accredited by April 2024 once I have completed my exams and three years’ practical experience. It’s been a challenge but I know it will be worth it!

What made you want to pursue a career in finance?

I’ve always enjoyed numbers so it was little surprise to those who know me that I completed degrees in mathematics and accounting and finance at university. While having a good grasp of numbers is crucial in my role, developing strong communication skills is always very important and was something that appealed to me.

I have learnt a lot already at Lexington thanks to the support of the team. It’s fast-paced, which I love – there is never a dull day in the office.

How do you like to spend your weekends?

I love travelling with my friends and family – I’ve recently ticked off a number of bucket list destinations including Budapest, Barcelona and Paris.
